Can I figure out how much my shipping and handling will cost?

Your shipping and handling costs are charged by "Zone", and reflect a percentage of your order size. Zones are determined by the United Parcel Service, which you can determine using thhe Zone Chart below, and based on shipping from our warehouse in Fontana, CA. Identify the Zone you're shipping to, apply the appropriate rate on the Freight Chart below, and calculate the shipping and handling charge. No guessing! Please note that the minimum charge for shipping to all zones is $6.50.

Zone Chart

The first 3-digits of your destination ZIP Code determine the zone.

Choose the ZONE where the order is being shipped to. Then, look at the FREIGHT CHART below to calculate the shipping cost.

Please note that the minimum charge for shipping to all zones is $6.50 (effective Oct. 25, 2013). For example, the shipping costs for a $37 order to be ground shipped in Zone 2 will require the $6.50 minimum shipping cost since the % Merchandise Total on the order does not meet the minimum requirement ($37 x 17% = $6.29). On the other hand, the shipping costs for a $40 order to be ground shipped in Zone 2 will be $6.80 since the shipping costs are above the minimum requirements ($40 x 17% = $6.80).

Freight rates are calculated as a percentage of your Member Price. These percentages are much lower when considered as a percentage of the Retail (catalog) value! On most products your markup is 3x your cost, while the actual shipping dollars remains the same. Example: If your freight is 25% of Member Price, you charge your customer just 10% of Retail — and your cost is more than covered!

Shipping Questions:

What is SoCal Wholesale Depot's shipping and handling policy?
SoCal Wholesale Depot's shipping and handling rates were designed to be as reasonable as possible. The flat shipping and handling rates we charge are based on the cost of your order (which is determined by the Member Price) and the destination zone.

Why are there higher shipping and handling rates for the different zones?

All transportation companies shipping via ground charge more the farther they have to go. Expenses such as gas, labor, and so forth add up as the miles add up. Since all of your shipments originate in California, shipments to the East Coast cost more than shipments to the Midwest.

How should I handle shipping and handling charges to drop-ship customers?

If you are drop shipping you should charge at least the amount it will cost you to ship to their zone. You may, of course, charge more, or even less if you prefer.

What does "May require additional shipping and handling" mean?
This statement can normally be found on bulky or heavy items, which cost more to ship. In these cases, simply charge your customer additional shipping and handling to cover the margin you lost.

Why do the shipping and handling rates seem so high?
The rates may seem high as a percentage of the Member Price, however, when you consider the rates as a percentage of the RETAIL (Catalog) prices, they are very reasonable.

How long will it take my order to arrive after leaving SoCal Wholesale Depot?
A good estimate is to translate your Zone Number into business days. For example, Zone 4 might take four business days; Zone 2, two business days. Remember to allow an additional two business days for us to process your order.

Can I track my orders?
Once we ship your order, you can track it quickly and easily on the Member Website; remember to allow two days for us to ship your order.

Why hasn't my order left the warehouse yet?
If you paid for your order using your checking or savings account (EFT), your order will be "on hold" and not begin processing for up to nine business days after the order is placed to ensure the bank payment clears. Your order will not ship from our warehouse until about two business days after the order is released from this hold.

How can I have an order shipped Rush?
Rates are significantly higher for rush delivery and on all shipments outside the continental United States. Therefore, we encourage members to avoid using rush delivery service and to have goods shipped to a physical address, to minimize shipping and handling costs. However, there is a Rush option available, both when ordering on the Member Website and when ordering via phone.

Can I use a Post Office Box as my business address?
Yes, but shipping to P.O. Boxes may also cause a delay in shipment. We suggest using your home or apartment address if you can and using a Post Office Box only in addition to a street address. Note also that rush delivery shipments cannot be sent to P.O. Boxes.

I'm Canadian. Why is my shipping and handling 45%, when Zone 8 shipping and handling is 30%?
Your 45% consists of Shipping and Handling, Duties, and GST. You're pre-paying all your duties and taxes so that Canada Post can ship your merchandise directly to your door.

Why are Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam paying higher rates?
Members in areas outside the continental United States pay higher shipping and handling rates because all carriers charge higher rates to ship to these areas.
